The federal government has been seizing power by rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land, the Constitution. This book exposes how the government has been ng this and what it means for our freedoms.
How the Government Has Been Rewriting the Constitution
The government has been rewriting the Constitution through a process called "judicial review." This process allows the Supreme Court to declare laws unconstitutional. However, the Court has also been using judicial review to rewrite the Constitution itself.
For example, in the 1937 case of West Coast Hotel Co. v. Parrish, the Supreme Court upheld a minimum wage law. The Court did this by overturning a previous decision that had held that such laws were unconstitutional. In ng so, the Court effectively rewrote the Constitution to allow for the regulation of wages.
The government has also been rewriting the Constitution through the use of executive Free Downloads. Executive Free Downloads are directives issued by the president that have the force of law. Presidents have used executive Free Downloads to create new agencies, implement new policies, and even declare war.
For example, in 2012, President Obama issued an executive Free Download creating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA allows undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children to stay in the country and work legally.
