Excerpt
Gracie stared at the man who was to be her husband. He was tall and handsome, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He was also a widower with two young children.
"I don't love you," Gracie said bluntly.
"I know," Ethan said softly. "But I will do my best to make you happy."
Gracie sighed. "I don't know if that's enough."
"It will have to be," Ethan said. "For now."
Gracie nodded. "I guess it will."
They were married in a small ceremony at the ranch. Gracie's family was there, as well as Ethan's children. It was a simple ceremony, but it was filled with love and hope.
After the ceremony, Gracie and Ethan went to their new home. It was a small cabin, but it was clean and comfortable. Gracie began to unpack her things while Ethan put the children to bed.
When the children were asleep, Ethan came into the bedroom. He sat down on the bed next to Gracie and took her hands in his.
"I know this is not what you wanted," Ethan said. "But I promise to take care of you and your family. I will do my best to make you happy."
Gracie looked into Ethan's eyes and saw the sincerity in them. She knew that he was a good man and that he would keep his promises.
"I believe you," Gracie said.
Ethan smiled and kissed Gracie on the forehead.
"Thank you," he said. "I won't let you down."
